musty smell
Hi folks! I just bought a 2004 C70. Everything is good, except there is a musty smell in the interior. I don't think it is the A/C (mold, etc.) but I'm going to get a bottle of A/C cleaner and a new carbon activated air filter.
My question is what else can I do to remove the smell. Shampoo the carpets? What about the soft-top headliner -- how can I clean that? I thought about getting a can of Lysol and spaying all over....
Any tips from the pros?!

Hi folks. Thanks for the replies.
One question. When I turn on the a/c blower to max (heater) I do not smell anything noticeable coming out of the vents. I haven't tried setting the temp to 'cold' (because it is cold outside).
Do you still think it is the evaporator?

I do. But I would Febreeze the car (NOT the headliner, it may stain) to get out any smell embedded in the carpets (and also shampooing mats first of course and drying them in the sun all day) and in the upholstery.
The evaporator is the small radiator inside the center console for the AC. There's also the heater core in the center console. Usually the problem with the evaporators is the drain tube gets clogged so that's usually the first thing to clear out. You can find that from underneath or behind the trim near the gas pedal. Also you can put in a new cabin air filter and clean up any intake screens.
