New Key - Duplicate Possible ? immobilizer bypass trick ?
Hi everyone,
I purchased a 2006 Volvo C70, It came with only one key. I have been reading through threads etc and i see that to make a new key i need vida dice etc... My question is can this key be Duplicated by someone other that volvo. I understand the keyless entry needs to be programed, but i mean is the chip inside the key, can that chip be duplicated and put in another housing so i can have a functioning key that would start the car ? Also i have read some posts where some people are just sticking the transponder chip to the ring underneath the dashboard to trick the immobilizer, would this work on a 2006 c70 ?

You need a dealer or a shop with VIDA and a subscription to allow software downloads in order to program keys.
The transponder is read by the ignition switch if you have a non-keyless car. Leaving the key in the ignition would be an option, but not a smart one.
