Default sunroof rattle in the close position

My 02 C70 sunroof rattles in the closed position (end near the hood). The local volvo shop suggested replacing the sunroof seal. As anyone encountered this problem?

Is it the actual sunroof or the sunblind underneath? Is it particularly cold where you are?

The sunblind on my V40 rattles when the temperature drops below about 3deg C as the plastic hardens.

I believe they all do!! I took mine to the dealer for a 'warranty' repair and learned that after 90 days you are out of luck. If you wiggle it around it will stop squeaking.............or so I have found.

mine rattled it was a rather annoying tinny rattle.
all it was , was a metal strip at the rear of the roof had come loose one length of double sided tape and no more rattle and that was 6 months ago too!

so have look for anything loose before splashing out at a stealer

It's the glass portion of the sunroof. I've notice a little play in the rear of the sunroof in the closed position. The sunbinder is ok. There's no problem when the roof is in the tilted position.

Thanks

Unfortunately with the way they are designed they simply rattle, its the plastic container which holds the glass thats the problem as it cant take the weight.

It can be but theirs no point as it will only continue to rattle after a short time with a new one in so for the cost of doing it its a pointless exercise.

The screws are known to come loose for the glass. Try checking the screws first.

Tilt the roof into the up position. Then look closely at the plastic covers. I belive they need to be slid foward then pull them out.
Then you will see the screws.
Also look at the metal bars front and rear and make sure they didn't come loose.

No problem I just happened to be checking all new posts since last visit and it was there.
Sometimes it takes a few to get back.
When I get home from work I have to go through an average of 3 to 4 full pages a night.

So I just took a quick look at the assembly. The front metal bar was just laying in there. I have pulled it out and put it in the trunk. I suppose we need to clean the dirt and gunk out and use some 2-sided tape to re-secure it. That sound like a good idea? Also, what do those bars actually do? I need to slide the plastic covers off to see if the screws are tight as well. Also, I think the drivers window regulator is going. When it's shut, and you attempt to roll it down there's a delay before the window starts to move. It seems like something moves, then the window snaps into action for the first few inches.

Those bars are the glass support bars. Not sure if the double sided tape will hold it on.
Yes sounds like the regulator is going bad. That is one you won't ever want to do again after doing one.

Well, news on today. She went to close the sunroof today and somehow the interior shade is ahead of the glass itself, in turn not allowing the glass to fully close. how am i supposed to get the shade back behind the frontmost part of the glass so it can shut?
