Thinking of buying another C 70.
Hello, I currently have a 2012 C 70. It has 28,000 miles on it. For Florida, I am thinking about buy a used C 70. In order to get into my price range, it will need to have pretty high mileage. It also needs to be a hardtop. Has anyone had experience with a high mileage Volvo C 70? I haven't had any problems with mine, but I only have 28,000 miles on it.
Thanks for the information in advance.

I think it depends greatly on whether you like turning wrenches, or have someone in the family who likes to do it for you. If you don't, then be aware that it will not be trouble free, and it might nickel and dime you for a while.
I'm still in the honeymoon period myself. I bought a 1999 Convertible three weeks ago and have found it very easy to fix and do maintenance on; and DIY information is plentiful. Most problems seem predictable (not necessarily preventable).
I'm in love with this car, and think there are many good cars available for less than $4000. But do get a car fax and call the local dealers and ask what maintenance they have done to the car. If you are fortunate, you might be able to avoid nuisances like timing belt changes, etc. I didn't have one dealership hesitate to provide service information to me once I provided them with a VIN.
I'm in fact shocked at how inexpensive older C70s appear to be - although I'm only focussing on convertibles, which might also be cheaper due to it being October and not June.
Good luck.

elvisfan- I take it you are leasing?
my 2008:
From 55K to 69K (1.75 yrs) I have replaced a few never replaced before on my previous non-Volvo vehicles.
Vent Box @ $576.00
Shifter cover @ $198,
Center section head liner ($125 - the Winter Park Fl. dealer wanted $950!)
Coolant reservoir $ $135
AC Compressor $ 1035.
Belt Tensioner $265.
TTL $ 2376.00 Maybe I'm past all this breakdown stuff now?
Sorry, but no one ever sees the majority of those repairs coming.
Why do I use the dealer for repairs one might ask? Lets start a thread on the subject?
My wife named the car "Joe" after Joe vs. the Volcano. Told her I'd settle for Josephine. (joke is: "There is always somethin' Joe!" )
I must confess, love over the car has clouded good judgment as I plan to keep a while longer. Convertibles are not all that abundant in choices. I often wonder if the 2008 Solara would have been as expensive of mechanical up keep. Probably not but not a hard top either.

Buy Problems!
I will never buy another Volvo after spending close to 4k to repair the stupid top controls. Save yourself some grief, here in Florida there is no shortage of clean, low-mileage Mazda Miatas, about $11,000 for one that looks and drives like new

Thanks for the info. A Miata won't work. Too small in a sea of SUVs.

I might by another C70
Just paid the Volvo dealer, I found a complete top motor and cables ($150.00) on ebay so they only charged 2k for putting in new tappets and rewiring everything. Gave me a new 2015 Volvo loner for 10 days free so I am feeling a little better. It is a good runner with only 83,000 miles.

Does it have DynaAudio system?

I bought a 2001 C70 just a week ago. Has 51K miles on it - Carfax verified. Paid $4K and change. Love the car. High hopes that it will not eat me alive with expenses. I guess the convertible top mechanism is about the most vulnerable. We shall see. But even if the top won't work I'll be happy with it.
