I have a 2004 Volvo C70 and the soft top is so tight it is pulling the fabric up and leaving a triangular opening at the bottom back of the rear windows (both sides). I searched Google for a cure a year or so ago and found a post "somewhere" which suggested laying thick towels across the rearmost 12-15 inches of the soft top and then dribbling boiling water onto the towels. The post, which I can no longer find, advised that repeated applications would soften the top and allow it to release the tension. I believe the tight top is also causing strain on the potentimeters, motors and gears which operate the opening and closing of the top. Can anyone verify if they've tried the hot water treatment to any degree of success? I've already spent several thousand dollars at Volvo dealerships to replace gears and motors, etc., and do not want the put good money after bad. Thank you, Schaynu
