XC60 Plug In Hybrid Battery Charging
I believe Volvo uses lithium ion batteries in all of their hybrids and full electric C40 and XC40. For full electrics using lithium ion batteries the rule of thumb is to recharge when battery nears 20% and to stop charging when it reaches approx. 80%, because it is more efficient and battery lasts longer when doing so. Yet it is routine for many hybrid owners to charge up to 100% overnight and to fully deplete the battery. Doesn't this practice reduce the long term battery life on a hybrid, just like it does on a full electric???? Should Volvo hybrid owners NOT fully recharge their batteries and NOT fully use up the battery range in an effort to extend the life of the very expensive to replace EV battery? Anyone know more about this potential issue?
