Unfortunately Volvo didn’t provide any software in the XC60 to monitor or configure charging. So if you are on a time of use meter, it’s nice to be able to have the vehicle start charging when rates are low, or for example be finished by 6 AM. Even my 1st generation Chevy Volt PHEV circa 2014 had onboard software so you could configure charging time and rate from either the car or the volt app. Volvo gives us nothing with the XC60 or the Volvo app. So that’s something to consider when purchasing level 2 EVSE for your home.
New to the PHEV, so far the XC60recharge is great. I am still somewhat confused with the charging. At home plugging into 110v outlet, it was taking 14 hours to charge, have installed 220v outlet (I think 40A), charging is now about 4 hours. My drive to work is around 40miles, with ChargePoint stations available (4 hour limit) My problem is the at the charging station I am only getting about 55% charge in 4 hours, is this normal? I was hoping I could fully charge at work for ride home. The station is 6.4kw, it downgrades to 3.2kw for my car, I am assuming based on your answer above. Even at 3.2kw, I am surprised I am not getting more of a charge. Any help appreciate, thank you

On your first question, No, the charging cable is locked as long as the car is locked.

I'd suggest a bit of a higher end brand such as this one:
Amazon Amazon

Is that one rated for outside and weather resistant?

Default How to make PURE mode the default mode

Hi I'm new in the forum. I recently bought an XC60 T6 recharge in Spain. I see some of you saying that the PURE mode can be set as the default mode. Can anyone tell me how to do this. I could not figure out. Thanks

Do you have a T6 or a T8. In the settings, you should be able to switch to pure and down a little there is a place to check to keep it that way at startup.

I have a T6, 2023 model. I've checked and I don't see that tick box in my settings screen. It's possible that earlier versions had it. It seems that newer versions have fewer options and strange features. For example, I cannot see the consumption of battery or gasoline in real time. I can only see averages which are difficult to interpret. Even though I always drive in PURE mode and with plenty of battery, there is always a positive, albeit small, consumption of gasoline. This car is a mystery to me and to the dealer as well, which is more worrying.

I saw a woman online that was complaining that her gas miles went down even though she only drives in pure mode. I always drive in hybrid mode, but I don’t use any gas unless I run out of miles. I have been getting 40 per charge. I thought all ‘recharge’ models were T8. I had a T6, but it was gas only.

Hi- we've owned our 2022 T8 extended range XC60 since April. We've been very pleased with the vehicle. Up until a few weeks ago, on a full charge, the display would say we were getting around 40 miles of battery range. It's now consistently saying we are getting 35 miles on a full charge. We haven't changed anything on our end. Using a Juicebox 40 charger. Any thoughts as to what's changed?

Thanks, Moe

In the warmer weather I was getting up to 45 miles on a charge, but now in the colder weather I am only getting 40. And the mileage goes down faster when I use the seat heaters and heater. I have never only got 35 on a charge.

Hi - I have had my Volvo XC60 T8 since May. I have fewer than 3500 miles on the car, but where there was a 42 mile range indicated for the first few months, it began dropping, first to 39, and now it has dropped to 36 miles. When it first began showing a lower range, I made sure to drive the battery down to around 5% before recharging it. But it hasn't helped.

Since my usual round trip is only 18 miles, I have it set on PURE. But on the rare times I drive a greater distance, setting the car on HYBRID mode, the gas mileage goes UP (like the gas showed a 240 mile range, and then jumped to 360 when I switched to HYBRID). After resetting, it then proceeds to decline as I drive. I wish these smart cars could explain their "thinking".

No difference but if you use the 110 is like 13 hours and the 220 is abour 4.5 hours

I’ve looked online but can’t seem to find the ideal amperage for charging? We were planning to have a 50 amp breaker installed, which should provide for an available 40 amps. Will this work or is it too much for the vehicle?

Thanks, Moe
The least expensive method is to just use the 6-20 plug/ cable that came with the car. Have the 240 volt 6-20 socket installed with a 20 amp breaker. The cars internal charger can’t handle anymore than this. It will charge in 4 to 5 hours.

‘This is what I did. It changes in 4-5 hours, better than the 12 or more hours that it takes for a 120v plug.

Has anyone else experienced this: MPG in pure and hybrid are elevated to unlikely numbers. Sent a message to dealer to see if it is a soft ware glitch.

I have seen this when running in hybrid, but it's mainly using electric, not gas.

I’ve only had the car a few months and while in hybrid- mostly seeing values such as 50’s or so. All of a sudden the numbers have jumped and there is no way I am getting 100+ miles/gallon.

Not sure where you live, but when I charge my car I've seen a full charge estimates more miles on electric than in winter. So perhaps with the warmer weather, the car is estimating and using less gas, hence higher mpg?

Live outside of Boston- and noticed this happening for past week or two. Thanks for your responses
