XC60 XC60 Recharge Extended Range
Correct. No risk to the vehicle since the 3.6 kW charger is actually on the vehicle, not the EVSE box. My only suggestion if you are in the market for a level 2 evse unit is to get one that offers some connectivity to its own app so you select times to start/stop charging and amperage if you are concerned your house can’t handle 16A draw. Unfortunately Volvo didn’t provide any software in the XC60 to monitor or configure charging. So if you are on a time of use meter, it’s nice to be able to have the vehicle start charging when rates are low, or for example be finished by 6 AM. Even my 1st generation Chevy Volt PHEV circa 2014 had onboard software so you could configure charging time and rate from either the car or the volt app. Volvo gives us nothing with the XC60 or the Volvo app. So that’s something to consider when purchasing level 2 EVSE for your home.
Hi I'm new in the forum. I recently bought an XC60 T6 recharge in Spain. I see some of you saying that the PURE mode can be set as the default mode. Can anyone tell me how to do this. I could not figure out. Thanks
I have a T6, 2023 model. I've checked and I don't see that tick box in my settings screen. It's possible that earlier versions had it. It seems that newer versions have fewer options and strange features. For example, I cannot see the consumption of battery or gasoline in real time. I can only see averages which are difficult to interpret. Even though I always drive in PURE mode and with plenty of battery, there is always a positive, albeit small, consumption of gasoline. This car is a mystery to me and to the dealer as well, which is more worrying.
I saw a woman online that was complaining that her gas miles went down even though she only drives in pure mode. I always drive in hybrid mode, but I don’t use any gas unless I run out of miles. I have been getting 40 per charge. I thought all ‘recharge’ models were T8. I had a T6, but it was gas only.
Hi- we've owned our 2022 T8 extended range XC60 since April. We've been very pleased with the vehicle. Up until a few weeks ago, on a full charge, the display would say we were getting around 40 miles of battery range. It's now consistently saying we are getting 35 miles on a full charge. We haven't changed anything on our end. Using a Juicebox 40 charger. Any thoughts as to what's changed?
Thanks, Moe

In the warmer weather I was getting up to 45 miles on a charge, but now in the colder weather I am only getting 40. And the mileage goes down faster when I use the seat heaters and heater. I have never only got 35 on a charge.
Hi - I have had my Volvo XC60 T8 since May. I have fewer than 3500 miles on the car, but where there was a 42 mile range indicated for the first few months, it began dropping, first to 39, and now it has dropped to 36 miles. When it first began showing a lower range, I made sure to drive the battery down to around 5% before recharging it. But it hasn't helped.
Since my usual round trip is only 18 miles, I have it set on PURE. But on the rare times I drive a greater distance, setting the car on HYBRID mode, the gas mileage goes UP (like the gas showed a 240 mile range, and then jumped to 360 when I switched to HYBRID). After resetting, it then proceeds to decline as I drive. I wish these smart cars could explain their "thinking".

Hello- just joined the forum. We picked up our XC60 recharge extended range over the weekend. Love the vehicle. So far, we’ve just been plugging the vehicle into our wall outlet each night. We’re getting quotes from electricians to install a 220/240v outlet in our garage.
I’ve looked online but can’t seem to find the ideal amperage for charging? We were planning to have a 50 amp breaker installed, which should provide for an available 40 amps. Will this work or is it too much for the vehicle?
Thanks, Moe

The least expensive method is to just use the 6-20 plug/ cable that came with the car. Have the 240 volt 6-20 socket installed with a 20 amp breaker. The cars internal charger can’t handle anymore than this. It will charge in 4 to 5 hours.
‘This is what I did. It changes in 4-5 hours, better than the 12 or more hours that it takes for a 120v plug.

Not sure where you live, but when I charge my car I've seen a full charge estimates more miles on electric than in winter. So perhaps with the warmer weather, the car is estimating and using less gas, hence higher mpg?
