Default xc60 T8 ER regen reduced

Hi all. I have a 2022(late) xc60 T8 recharge extended range. When we bought it, it had software 2.1

We did OSD in June and drove through flat roads and the mountains of Norway. One foot driving required a bit of getting used. Let off the gas pedal too much or too quickly and it felt like a parachute came out the back and your whole body slammed forward on flat roads😂. In the mountains, going downhill, the heavy regen just barely held speed and there was some brake intervention on the worse grades.
When the car was delivered to us in late August, we had the same feel with newly released 2.2. However, the last few months, I have noticed the regen has gotten significantly softer. If I let off fast, the car does not pull me from the seat back anymore and the regen needle never goes to full power, only to second to last line.
We are now on release 2.5 and coming up to cars or a red light now, I sometimes need to use the brake to do the final stop which I imagine it is doing with the brake as I feel the car stopping faster but the gauge does not dip down any further.

anyone else having the same reduced force feel and visual confirmation of not going full power regen?

Not sure if Volvo's do this, but many EV's are forced to reduce regen in very cold conditions because the battery cannot accept as high a rate of charge. I'd assume it's colder now than when you first took delivery in June, so perhaps that could be an issue? Do you notice any difference in regen performance between warmer or cooler days?

Hi Philip. I have not noticed a difference. In June, we were going through snow storms in Norway and freezing temps as well as warm days. Regen was the same, full power regen.
here in texas it’s been in the 70’s and low 80’s the past week and regen will not go past the second to last tick mark no matter what I do. It’s like it wants to go past but something is holding it back. So either the mechanicals have a problem or software has changed and Volvo put a limited on regen.

does your vehicle or can your vehicle hit full regen?

Tbob, I have noticed some variation in regen strength in my S60, but I do believe it's still hitting full regen. I may however not be a good comparison because my car is a Sensus car vs. Google Automotive, so I'm not sure if the tuning is the same and/or the dashboard indicators are comparable.

Given that you don't observe a difference with temps, it does seem like software tuning could be a factor and could be worth a check in with the dealer or a call to Volvo. Perhaps 2.5 added a "regen strength" setting?

My vehicle seems to be worse now as each revision of software has come down the line. I am noticing the regen, though showing 3/4 strength(most it will do) is very low at highway speeds(55-75mph) and mediocre at speeds 45-55mph. Just yesterday I had to hit the brakes because the vehicle was only slowing down at a rate of 1mph/second at 55mph. Scary.
I took it to the dealership and all they said was if there was an issue the vehicle would throw a code🤦‍♂️. Of course we drove another xc60 recharge and that acted similarly but he didn’t take it on the highway(rush hour). So he chalked it up to design. I am adamant the factory changed the regen capability back in 2.4 or 2.5.
anyway, can you guys check and see if you are having sluggish regen at higher speeds?
