As stated in my newcomer thread, I am considering buying an 01 s40 1.9T and wanted any input that I could on this vehicle. there are 2 that I am looking at, one has 33Kmi and the other 29Kmi not much different in price, just color and interior color... Looking for any feedback that may be useful on this year and the other reviews that I have read on other sites seem to say that this is one great car.... thanks in advance

 

This is my advice. If you going to want some decent power, then go for a TURBO model. Because you will regret it later if you don't.

 

That is why I was looking into the 1.9T, I have heard good things from a friend that had an 03. Just wanted to make sure this was going to be a good buy!

 

S70, I think all 1.9t are turbo, I am pretty sure that is what the t stands for.

jbrown, I have an 01 and I have been having issues with it. I think if it were me and I was going to do it over again I would spend the extra and get a 03/04.

Dont get a sunroof, I have heard they leak and are hard to fix
Besure to check the motor mounts, Upper sway bar bushings on front end. I have had other issues, If you are interested send me a pm.

 

I have an 01 s40t. Its a great car other than a problem with the ignition coils that the great people on this forum helped me fix. I have heard of engine mount problems such as Zigzag_2 mentioned. But when I got my car the owner before me had the dealer fix the problem. There is a little visibility problem I have found changing lanes to the left and looking over my left shoulder. Other that that the car is good on gas and quick. My oppinion is that the s40 is a great car. Good Luck
