'01 S40 need blowout valve?
I'm no car expert, but does an '01 S40 need a blowout valve? I am picking one up and I test drove it, but didn't hear a blowout valve from the 1.9.
I'm not looking for performance out of my Volvo, I just wanted to know if Volvo already took the precaution to think about the durability of the turbo

1. It is BLOW OFF VALVE (BOV).
2. You don't have one stock, you have a CBV.
3. You do not need one period. The CBV does the same job as a BOV. Just in a different way.
4. It wont do anything for your Volvo other then produce sound.

"A compressor bypass valve (CBV), also known as a compressor relief valve or diverter valve, is a vacuum-actuated valve designed to release pressure in the intake system of a turbocharged or centrifugally supercharged car when the throttle is lifted or closed. This air pressure is re-circulated back into the non-pressurized end of the intake (before the turbo) but after the mass airflow sensor."
