02 S40 front struts
Need help!
I have pulled out the right one and I cant remove the top nut. It is a 18mm standard nut. I use a side opened 18mm deep socket and i hold it to prevent spinning with 8mm hand wrench. So far I broke two 8mm wrenches. It is so strong like I am removing an oxygen sensor. Have anyone experienced this problem? Thanks

I ran into the same thing with mine. What you really need is an impact gun. Electric will do. Hold the shaft with channel-locks and use the impact gun on the top nut.
If you don't have access to an impact gun and if you are replacing the strut. You can drill a hole through the top nut along the shaft. Then split the nut with a heavy chisel or something that you can wedge in there. You will very likely mess up the threads on the shaft though.
I have done both methods and they both work. The impact gun is far superior. The first strut (drill method) took me about 2 hours. The second (impact gun) took about 45 minutes.
