All engines use some oil, but that would be excessive.

Checking the oil in the 2.4L and 2.5L engines is tricky because if you check it when you first shut off the engine there is still quite a bit in the oil filter housing. Lets say you fill it normally and check it as you fill. Then the next time you check the level you shut the engine off and immediately pop the hood to check the oil. In this case it will show low as some of that oil is still in the filter. Give it about 10-15 minutes and all that hot oil drains back to the pan and the level will check good again.

I really like the oil filter location compared to the 1.9L location when it comes to removing the cover without spilling oil. It's up high, fairly easy to access, and clean. The downside is you have to wait for oil to drain back to the pan before you check the level.
