Hi All,
I'm new to this forum, but have been doing some research on S40s. I currently have a Mazda3, which has been a very reliable car with exceptional fuel mileage. I'm in the market to get a different car and was thinking that I would like something a little nicer. The s40 was a car that seems to fit the bill. I drive 500 miles round trip every weekend, so I need to get 30+ mpg. Reliability is also key.I don't tolerate multiple trips to the dealer very well.
After doing quite a bit of reading on the forum, the responses have me vey gun shy on buying an s40.
So.... How many of you have had good luck with your S40s? I'm looking atlow mileage used 06s or newer. I have seen enough " I have this problem" responses, now I want tohear from those of you ( if you exist) that have had a good experience.
thanks!

We bought a left over 06 S40 T5 AWD in Januarary 08. To date we have put on 4,000 miles with only one problem. A moulding on the moonroof popped off when we went to close it. Probably wasn't installed correctly. We get between 24-26 mpg. Remember it's new, AWD, and we are running winter gas. I believe it will get better after it breakes in. Also will change to full synthetic oil at the 7500 service. Tom

We bought an 07 2.4 for my wife and it's been a great car, very well built. You couldn't even compare the quality and durability to my previous 04 Saab 93. If you're a guy, I would recommend the T5 over the 2.4. I definitely couldn't drive the 2.4 for more than a day or two before I go back to my X-Type, I need those high horses.
Remember, 90% of the people that post on a forum are usually because they have a problem or mad about something, rarely do people come here to write something good. Keep that in mind.
