Default 15,000 mile check-up??

I bought my S40 in Feb. with 11,000 miles on it. After reading several things on the forum, I am concerned about the price of the 15,000 mile check up. My oil change label says the next is due at 16,000 so I planned to bring it to the dealer then. Must I bring it at 15,000??

What do they do at 15,000?? How much can I expect to be charged??

Do you know if I can go to my own mechanic rather than the dealership and still have the Certified Used guarantee in effect?? Someone told me there is a law that states it can be done as long as VOLVO approved parts are used.

I think this is the best car I have ever owned, but I am worried about the cost of maintenance.

Thanks for your help.

Hmmmm... I have a 2005 also, and I thought routine service was covered to 30K. I thought I heard that was an item changed from the 05 to 06's, with the 06 not having the routine service covered... Guess I need to look at the manual/paper work again...

I must confess I have not read the manual very thoroughly; I read some messages talking about the high price of the routine maintenance and worried that it was the 2005.......

Should I bring it in at 15,000 or wait until 16,000 as that is what is on the little oil change sticker on the windshield??

You can take it in at 15,000 that will be fine.

Any idea on what the cost of the 15,000 mile check will be?? I know I get free oil changes, but don't know what to expect cost wise. Thanks.

You should get the entire thing for free.

It should usually cost over $100.00.

The 15k service is pretty much a cabin filter and an oil change. They check a few other things, but it's nothing significant.
