2001 S40 CEL issues
Got a CEL last month. The place I normally use pulled the codes (P0015 cam position), and said they couldn't fix it since they didn't have the right tool. Referred me to a small shop nearby.
I stopped by that shop, mechanic pulled the codes, said he could fix. Told me that it more likely was the cam position solenoid that needed relaced, and the cost would be about $220.00 parts and labor.
Went to pick the car up and he said the part in the car looked virtually new, so he simply cleaned it and replaced with a new gasket (new gasket with a screen). He also told me that he had run the car some 75/80 miles with no return of the code.
I drove it on block to my warehouse and parked it for a couple days.
Wet to fire it up today, and made it all of three blocks before the CEL cam back on....
His bill was $240.00 (almost ALL in labor charges). Car was supposedly fixed. Now it goes back on Tuesday for a rerun...
I am not a happy camper.....
