Default [SOLVED] 2001 S40 won't start without pressing on gas pedal and dies right away

Recently acquired this car and its giving me a lot of problems. It only has 83K miles but crap load of problems. Out of the blue it developed this problem. It won't start without me giving it gas and then will die right after if I take my foot off the gas pedal. And to make it worse it is throwing no CEL. Very frustrating. All help is appreciated.

Fuel Pressure Regulator. Do a search here and you will find tons of information. It's a quick fix but not cheap.

yep easy fix - FPR will cost you about $125 for a Volvo Genuine (check Tascaparts.com for a good price). It plugs into the right side of the fuel pressure rail cover. There's only two torx screws and you'l need pliers for the fuel line clip. 15 minute job.

$192 on the website you provided. I found one for $127 online but not sure if genuine Volvo.

if fpr doesn't do the trick give your idle control valve a good cleaning. I had same symptoms and that did the trick. Maybe try that first since it's cheap and easy.
