Wife is pregnant with our second, just got into a house...finally...and after just discussing how I need our 2001 S40 to last a while longer, the vehicle has now decided to not start. Last week we put the car in the shop to repair an oil leak. It was fixed and returned to us. No leak. Two days later the car won't start.

When I turn the key, the dash lights come on. No clicking from under the hood. Just silence. I though prehaps the battery is going, and hooked up jumpers, and nothing.

The engine fuse was blown, replaced it with the power window fuse, tried to start and blew that too!

hmmm.

 

Follow the hose down to just before the turbo. There is a electrical valve in the plastic hose. Unplug the electrical connector and put in a new fuse and see if it starts.

 

I'll try that tomorrow as soon as I can get some more maxi fuses from volvo, thanks for your help
