2001 volvo s40 gear position sensor
Anyone here ever change one? if So where exactly is it located. FYI My S40 is in Limp mode (3rd gear) with the Up Arrow flashing OBDII reading code for GPS. Found one for 80 bucks on line and will change it but looking for any help in doing the switch out. Thanks in advance

GREAT description!! Thanks! My 2001 S40 has been throwing code P0705 and P0700 for a while now, but has always run just fine... "Rowing" through the gears (Park thru Low, 15 - 20 times) has cleared up the "sensor" issue and turned off the Flashing Arrow.
However, this has been recurring more frequently now, so I think I'm going to replace the PNP / GPS. I feel a little braver after reading this post. Thanks!
