Hey guys the battery in my factory keyless entry remote for my 2001 s40 died and after I replaced it with a new one, it wont work. I have tried several remotes and nothing seems to work. I read online that you have to take it to the dealership to get it reprogrammed?? Is there any way around this?? Thanks!!

 

Something else is wrong. I've replaced my battery several times with no issues. I even bought a replacement outer casing and transferred the internal electronic board and battery.

I'm thinking instead of a dead battery it's actually the remote itself that died. Does your spare still work? If it's a dead remote then it's off to the dealer for a fix. The used ones off ebay don't work either as the dealer needs some code that's not listed inside the key fob. At least that's what my dealer told me... YMMV
