Default 2002 s40 cem

I have a 2002 S40 with a low-beam headlight which will not work...took into the dealer and they informed me that the CEM needed to be replaced. I have over 130,000 miles on the car and didn't want to pay the price for a new CEM and installation so I bought a used one on ebay.

After reading threads on several forums and talking to a mechanic over the phone it seems as if I can just switch out the faulty CEM with the used one which I just purchased.

I have two major concerns that need to be addressed before I attempt this myself...is there a chance that I may not be able to start my car after replacing the CEM because of different "key codes" and I was told I would need a code for my radio, where do I get that from?

Thank you in advance for any advice!

Hi, did you get this repaired? I just switched my CEM out hoping the lights would come on but no luck. It did start though without any issues.

I bougt a used CEM off of ebay and my headlights now work. It was a very easy switch and took only 10 minutes. Everything works great...I highly discourage anyone from going to a mechanic to have a CEM replaced because even a novice can handle this repair.
