I have been looking for anyone that has done a auto to manual transmission swap on a 2003 s40. my friend has a s70 and i was looking in the bay and it almost looks like i could take a manual from one of those and fit it my car. i have the skills and the place to do it but i need to find out what manual will fit. if someone can tell me some references or some info on my transmission and the s70 transmission that would be great.

The 850/S70 tranny might fit as far as bolting it up.
But then you would be missing mounting for one mount. They did not bring any S40 manual tranny's to the U.S. so if you really wanted one you might have to import it.

and where do you recommend i go to find a s70 transmission and where can i get some detailed info

 

Well the mount screws to the top of the transmission on the S40's.

Anything is possible it is just how much $$$ you want to spend to do it.

There is a few people on Volvospeed.com that usually finds and seels everything for the S70/850 to do the swap.

I would guess the only real way is to try it.

 

well i already found the transmission so this summer my project will begin
