Default 2004.5 S40 turbo new body style A/T 147k miles

Ive been eyeing this for some time on craigs list. Its on its 3rd cycle and price comes down a bit each time. Being a "new" stlye for its time is there any reason to stay away from it or run fast toward it. Interesting its been around for so long. Ive just never been one for being on the cutting edge preferring to let the bugs get worked out over 2 or 3 years. I'm gonna say he has tried to sell it for several months. Always the same photo set so easy to identify. The price seems good, now around 3100. But almost 3 hours away. Opinions anyone? Any bugs or gremlins to be wary of? Thanks All........

The 2004.5 and 2005 did have a few bugs but most were fixed with software updates. The only hardware issues that I recall were the driver side door wire harness getting wet and causing difficulty unlocking the door and the fuel pump electronics module. The later should have been taken care of as part of a recall.

If it has been sitting a while, there may be good reason. Look it over carefully. Look for evidence of a flood car (interior rust on seat rails, and other places). I ran across one of these when looking for a V50.

Thanks AN. I've read about the harness issue. Good tip on the seat rails. I've pulled some carpet up and had a good sniff to check for mildew on others. My first question maybe "how many keys do you have for it?" Lol. (Deduct 300 for only 1 IMHO) Surely at this mileage and age the T belt has been done once. Didn't no about the firmware. I was thinking hardware or things like electrical. Maybe the original coils or hoses etc got upgraded after a year or 2 due to premature failures. That sort of thing. Big Thank You!!!

"Veryyyyyy Interesting" as Arte Johnson would say on "Laugh In". (apologies to the under 55 crowd. Google Laugh In) I was going to note that there has been a price drop since the OP so I went back to check my facts and presto, 2 price drops recently. The last just 6 hours ago. Its been interesting watching this over say, the last 4 months? Even with a different "opening" picture. And if you dont filter out dupes there has been as many as 3 ads run simultaneously. Same pics. For 2 runs the price was around 3800. We are down to 3050 asking price now. My company has an office in Chattanooga, I may have to see if there is a gearhead, oops, enthusiast there that would look at it for a small fee. Check for current CELs, smoking exhaust, or a bad dent not in a picture. All 3 deal breakers for me. Oh, and the 2nd Key phenomenon. Geez Volvo......give it 2 more weeks it may go 2500??? I gotta know more!!! Something is up IMHO. Gentlemen place your bets............wish Id kept that spread sheet I started last summer. Yeah, I need a life, sorry.
