which model S40 is your 2004(Gen 1 or Gen 2)?

hard to see from this pic but I believe it's in behind the instrumentation panel. I THINK you access it from the passenger footwell by removing a bunch of stuff. If it's the same set-up as the P3 V70 you will need a special tool to take it out and to re-install.
