I am getting nothing but crap when I search for the interchangeable parts list from model to model . Is there a site that will tell me what model volvos parts will work on my 2004 s40

2004 was the last year of the gen 1 "neds car" and the first of the new "gen 2" platform S40. Quite often the gen 2s are referred to as 2004.5 model year. Another way to tell the diff is the gen 1s have the four cylinder, gen 2s have a five and are badged accordingly ("I" being the NA).

So if you have a gen 1, most parts from 2000 (excepting front struts and the 4 speed tranny) are common through 2004. The 2004.5s share parts with the 2005s but there are some different parts for the later years.

What you can do is a dealer store like tascaparts.com to research the OEM part number specific to your year and VIN serial number.
