2005 s40 Anti Skid
I don't understand what that means. The dashboard showed it was low on power steering so I put some in. Now the dashboard says ABS anti skid service request. Underneath the car when I try to stop it makes a horrible sound like my ankle is about to fall off. What the heck is wrong. Problem reads ABS ANTI SKID SERVICE REQUIRED.
I would appreciate anyone's honest help single mom in California and only have one car.
Thanks All

ABS and Anti-skid are part of the same system. First thing that needs to be checked is wheel speed sensors. next most common problem is the ABS controller board which can develop cracks in its internal connections. You need to find a shop to read the computer fault codes to get some sense of what is setting the warning light. The sound you are hearing suggests the ABS system is (incorrectly) sensing a wheel is locked (ie not turning) and is pulsing the brake pressure to that wheel.
