Exclamation 2005 s40 - Dead CD Player - wife angry - HELP!!

Hello everyone!

I have a terrible situation. The CD player in my wife's 2005 S40 T5 died. Being unable to play music in her car is FREAKING HER OUT and thus, she's mad at me.

The Volvo dealer wants to charge me $600 to replace the unit, which I think isn't the BEST decision, but it might be the only decision.

As an alternative, I've looked into replacing the factory setup with something aftermarket. But as most of you know, due to the heavily integrated proprietary nature of the existing hardware, there is no aftermarket drop-in solution.

I did see that there are some companies in Europe that make an iPod integration system for the stock stereo system, however, it only works for head units that have the CD Changer. SHE DOES NOT HAVE THE CD CHANGER.

So from what I can tell, I am SOL unless I pay the dealer to replace the unit.

So....WHAT CAN I DO??

Are there any fiber solutions out there that will work with the non CD-Changer units?

THANK YOU SO MUCH IN ADVANCE!!!

I see the CD players on ebay and occasionally a changer. I am not sure if it is plug and play or do you have to go to Volvo to load software.
