2005 S40 stability control/opinion
Looking at an '05 S40 2.4i. Wondering if it has stability control since I see differing specs on the web. I'm not sure why car makers don't have specs for old models on their sites.
Also any well-known issues with this vehicle? I don't see much info. I guess that's the problem; it's not popular at all compared to accords, etc, which I'm also looking at. I don't even know much about Volvo--is it a huge hassle to maintain, etc?

DSTC (dynamic stability and traction control) was a factory installed option according to the 2005 sales brochure. If the car has that option, there's an active on/off button on the console between the shifter and handbrake. If you turn the button to "off" and a message will appear in the info screen between the speedo and tach.
I bought mine used to be a commuter which is why I went for the non-turbo. I haven't had any out-of-the ordinary repairs except for a blocked a/c drain tube that flooded the floorboards. But the car had almost all of its maintenance done by a Volvo dealer so I was confident it had been well maintained. Like any car, if you keep up on the maintenance it shouldn't have major problems.
