When we turn the wheel the power steering groans. I've checked the fluid level and it was at the low end of normal before I filled it and that didn't help. I don't have any notices telling me that my power steering needs servicing, and the other than the noice it functions normally. Has anybody else had this problem? Am I looking at needing a new pump soon? Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

Is the level still good after refilling? Any leaks on the driveway?
The electric pump works when you turn the wheel so groaning could be a failing pump or electric motor as well as low fluid. I don't know of any preventative maintenance you can do other than keeping the fluid topped up.
There are filters you can buy to splice into low pressure return line like the Magnefine.
