2005 s40 windshield wipers won’t turn off

I have been working on a 2005 s40 t5 that has had multiple electrical issues. I took apart the dash to see if there were any signs of wires damaged from mice. I put the dash back together and after hooking up the battery and turning on the key, the wipers will not stop if the key is on. This was not happening before I took apart the dash. Does anyone have any ideas how or what to look at to fix the problem?

Good point - I figured that taking the cover off the steering column was a necessary step in getting the rest of the dash out (I'm kind of surprised it isn't).
Looks like the wipers normally have three wires... +12 volts, ground (both of which are there or they wouldn't run at all) and a control signal from the CEM. FWIW, there's a white / green wire running from the CEM to the windshield wiper motor(s). I'd guess that there would be a digital square wave signal on that wire, but of course, there's no way to check that without an oscilloscope. IIRC, my AC cooling fan "control line" would read around 4-6 volts with a "normal" voltmeter (not really an accurate test, but adequate to say that it's probably working).

Thanks for that bit of information. I took apart the ignition switch to see if there were any issues there because my previous problem was crank, no start. The CEM I sent off to a company that reloaded the software. They said that there was nothing wrong with it other than corrupt software. After installing the CEM, I lost all dash lights except for the check engine light. I took the dash apart to resolve that issue. After not finding anything obvious, I put the dash back together. That’s when the wipers started to act up. Do you have a diagram of the CEM and what connector I should check?

Somewhat similar issue..
2005 v50 T5 AWD
I had to replace the bad blower motor. During that process I did few things that were not necessary like removing the dash, center console and what not. After putting everything together wipers won't stop when I turn on the ignition. Windows, turn signal and also some other functions are not working. Did you find out what was wrong with yours?
thanks
