2005 t5 AWD Intermittant Turbo
So every so other day or so I'll hit about 2000 - 2700 RPM's and it feels like the turbo just dies- I can still accellerate but it's much slower. Then it stays dead unless I turn the car off while I'm driving a straghtaway, and when I turn it back on it works for a few seconds and then, dead again.
The only way to "fix" it is to turn the car off for a couple hours and then it normally works the rest of the day, but it's getting more and more finicky.
It did it a month ago and I replaced the spark plugs. And now it's still doing it.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance for the help!

I had this problem not that long ago. My car was doing the exact same thing. Other things that were happening was that when i try to pass a car at 55-60mph my car seemed as if was going to stall. I took it back to the dealer since its still under warranty. They checked things out and found that theturbo wasnt kicking in anymore. They said it had something to do with the turbo, and the turbo boost sensor. They replaced both and now my car is running smoother and faster than ever. Hope i kind of helped, but remember im not an expert in anyway.
Thanks, that answer is getting me thinking in a good direction.
One more question- Did you have any CODES come up as your turbo was failing, or did you jusit notice the problem. I have, as of yet, received no codes.

No i didnt get any codes when the turbo was failing. I just noticed it when i couldnt pass anyone on the highway and when i was on the street it took forever to pick up speed. oh almost forgot they also had to "reflash" and download updates to the software.
in S40 when turbo fails you don't see any message on the display. Go to your dealer, the problem can be related with any of this three options:
1- turbo
2- turbo sensors
3- software update required
So check and let us know! good luck!
