I noticed both vanity lights were out, and just assumed light bulb related. Purchased four new bulbs from Volvo, installed them and still no luck. The 2004-2005 manual calls out for a fuse (fuse #47) for the vanity but the 2006 does not list any fuse for vanity. I checked fuse #47 and it appears good. When replacing the bulbs I didn't see any corrosion around the switch, all looked good and clean.

Any thoughts on what else to check?

Check all the fuses first. I bet one of them is blown.
