Hello! I just picked up a 2008 S40 2.4i and I’m in the process of fixing it up. I’m missing the leatherette/plastic cover that goes around the handbrake and I can’t find a replacement anywhere! I’ve checked eBay, local salvage yards, etc. I’ve found a few but they’re in Europe and shipping is crazy.I’ve also found the entire assembly but that seems like a waste. Does anyone know where I can find this part? I’ve found the end cap but I need the leather handle and silver button cap. I’m going crazy trying to find it. Would appreciate any help!
On an unrelated note - have you ever wondered why your manual shifting doesn't work? You need to install one of these (example - not necessarily the best place to get it):
The shift lever position (left to right, and for the up/down shifts) is sensed by a sensor in your shift lever assembly "reading" a small magnet mounted on the shift gate. If it's broken / missing (like yours) your car never knows that you pushed the lever into the manual shift position.

thanks for the reply! All of those listings are from pre-08 models which have a different handbrake. There are a few listings for 08+ but they are either missing pieces or they’re the entire handbrake assembly which is $100+ I just need the plastic cover that you touch.
I actually already have the shifter blind I plan on installing it tomorrow I had an 09 C30 with the same problem
I saw listings that ran to (and above) 2009, for well under $50 (didn't bother to look at color). Maybe the listers put down the wrong years?
In a situation like that, I'll look up the factory part number on one of the (many) websites with factory parts, and then do an internet search on that part number. I got a shift boot for an Audi from eBay, from a vendor in Italy who sewed them up (very nicely, too - and for a small fraction of the Audi price).
