So, I was in line at a fast food place and I wasn’t close to anyone at all but my car started to get hotter and hotter and we don’t know why. We think it’s the radiator fan not turning on any help?

quite possible about the fan not coming on. Did the temp go back to a normal range once you started moving again? Keep in mind that if you experience this while stuck in traffic, you can turn the heater on full to help cool the engine and avoid a boil over. First thing to do is make sure the coolant level is correct (you should see something in the overflow reservoir). Also as a test see what happens with the fan if you turn on the AC (some models have a separate control from the AC to turn the fan on). If the car is parked after fully warmed up and idling for a few minutes (like your drive thru experience) you should hear the fan come on.

if the fan doesn't come on as expected, check fuses/relays but more likely its either be the controller or the fan assembly...

is there a way to jump the fuse to make the fan turn on? My dad was asking if that’s possible

You got some good advice in the thread above (but apparently didn't take it). Try turning on the A/C - that should also turn on the fan. If it doesn't come on, you have a bad fuse (look it up in your owner's manual or on the fuse box cover), or relay, or quite possible bad fan motors. You can ID the fan relay - then if the fuse(s) is (are) good, you can probably swap out the relay with an identical one that's in the same area... if the fans now run with the A/C on (or the engine hot), you just need to replace the relay that USED to be in the fan relay position (they're cheap and easy to find).

Additionally, there's a temperature sensor that could fail and prevent the fans from coming on, but until you check the other (easy) steps suggested, that's getting well ahead of ourselves!

We ran wires from the battery directly to the plug of the fan it didn’t turn on.. so does that mean we need a whole new fan

Yes, that would indicate the fan motor is bad. Check to make sure that there is power at the plug with the A/C on, just to cover that base, too.
