Hi,

I am buying a 2008 S40 remote this week but it only comes with 1 Factory remote. I wanted to know if the ones they advertise on Ebay worthwhile or am I wasting my money? I know I have to get it programmed at the dealer, but I was hoping to save a little by getting one from Ebay. I searched the forum for similar topics but did not see any relevant to S40, V50 or C30 around the same years. Any help would be appreciated.

I have a 00 S40 and bought a remote on ebay and was told by the ebay seller that the dealer could and would program it for a small fee. When I went to the dealership, they told me that the remote I bought was useless without a specific PIN code, which I wasn't given. $190 later, I had a working remote courtesy of the dealer.

My advice; be careful of what you buy on ebay, no matter what the seller tells you.

Thank you for the reply, sorry I did not respond sooner. I will take your advise and stay away from the ebay remotes. What's funny is my wife and I used to work for a car rental company and my wife once got another volvo remote from the lost and found. I called the dealer and they said no this cannot be programmed either. I have to buy a new remote. In any case, I am in no rush, that way the wife can't touch the carhttps://volvoforums.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif. She likes my S40 better then her V50 now and keeps asking me to want to drive it.
