2008 S40 Turn Signal sticks on

The right turn signal goes on for no reason, such as going over a bump in the road, or for no reason. Also when turning right, the lever clicks off, but the right turn signal stays on unless you tap down on the lever to force it off. Even when the lever clicks off a left turn, it starts to signal a right turn.
Can the signal lever assembly be replaced with the column clam shell removed and is it an easy replacement? Are there any other parts that could cause this?

Thanks Damien360. If it is an internal short in the lever, does this mean replacing the whole lever as opposed some smaller part of the switch - and is it just insert and reattach the screws? Looks like the lever is around $60. Is there a recommended parts place on the forum for reasonable parts and shipping? Should I pick it up from a nearby dealer?
I appreciate your help on this!

Update - the new lever/switch came in yesterday and we installed it. It's working great and so the problem is solved. Attaching the lever was easy, just 2 screws. The hard part was figuring out how to get the covers off. No real instructions or youtube for that, but managed to get it off without damage. Thanks for your help!
