Is this something that is user-serviceable? I checked the owner's manual and I don't see specific instructions for replacing it. Light appears to be intermittent...managed to get it to light up a few times after removing and replacing the bulb assembly.

Have plans on going to the dealer soon for its 22.5K service so I will have them take care of this, but it would be good to know if I can fix this in the future when its out of warranty. Hopefully in the meantime I won't get pulled over for a missing brake light.

 

Problem is definitely not one that an average consumer can address...

When I press the brake, the brake light on the driver's side lights up momentarily at a lower intensity then goes out.

I just hope that this is something that the dealer can figure out and fix on the first try.

Did you ever get this resolved? I'm having the same issue and can't tell if it is the brake light switch or if it is a ground problem. It is hard to troubleshoot because most of the time the light works then intermittently it decides to not work or light very dim. The dim part makes me believe there is a grounding problem, but on the same time I am pointing at the switch.

Any info is appreciated!

 

Dealer replaced the LED bulb, AFAIK it's been working fine ever since.
