Default Aftermarket head unit

Wanting to install an aftermarket headunit in my 2004 s40. Wondering how to do it with my climate controls linked into my factory unit. Is it possible. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The system is interconnected using a fiber optic MOST bus. It is extremely difficult to replace with aftermarket and/or expensive. The best option, though expensive, is the Bluepower BLP-990 https://www.bluepower.se/en/product/...dunit-arm.html .

What stereo does you S40 have now: Performance, High Performance or Premium?

Replacing the speakers with something decent will give some improvement in sound. If you have the Premium and are looking to add iPhone, USP and aux in; you can add a Denison Gateway 500. This device interfaces directly with the MOST bus. Other than that, you can use a FM modulator.

I just recently went through this issue with my 05. Best bet, if you want to do it yourself, is replace the speakers, add a sub with an amp, and then wire in a JBL Bluetooth Receiver to your amp.
