Akebono Brakes? info?
I'm trying to get more info about akebono brakes for a S40 volvo. I have a 2000 S40, any feed back on putting them on or not? I've heard people say don't put them, they make to much noise/screech to much. ANY FEEDBACK? SHOULD I PUT THEM ON OR NOT?
I've had Akebono ceramic pads and Brembo rotors for the past 20,000 miles. No problems! No noise or dust. Excellent stopping power (typical city/interstate; not track). VERY rotor friendly and long lasting.
I'm also interested to hear what others think....

Thanks for the info, is your car a S40? Also do you have any websites or stores that you recommend to get after market rotors/brakes? Adding to this topic, any one that lives in Southern California that knows a good volvo shop to do good work that is a resonable price?
I am glad to know about the Akebono pads from www.tirerack.com. Like rcanS40, I would also like to know what brand of rotors you purchased.
Has anyone bought rotors from www.brakeperformance.com? Their drilled slotted rotors are not drilled all the way through but rather dimpled. Their claim is cross drilling sacrifices the structural integrity of the rotor which causes warping and cracking. They claim a lifetime warranty against warping.
This subject appeals to me because the summertime ambient temperature is around 115 degrees and the ground temp is around 140-150 degrees.
I have read semi-metalic pads are better than ceramic in high temps. Is that true?

I've read the opposite, that ceramic are better at high temps. I've also read that Porsche uses them. Since my 2001 is overdue for new rotors, I would like to thank you guys for suggesting this combo.
