Have an early 2000 S40 that had a bad strut mount which previous owner was to replace....he replaced the whole strut assembly with something way different. So got the bright idea to buy new 2001 strut assemblies for both sides. Unfortunately, they don't come as an assembly so bought pieces and was surprised to find the coil spring seat comes with no rubber insulator. Seems only dealers carry this for $40+/per side which seems very expensive for what it is. Also, I'm eating the cost of this since it seems the previous owner has washed his hands of it even though it's his fault it's messed up.

Also, can I use the shorter 2000 sway bar links or should I switch to the longer 2001 links? Car currently sits with shorter link and looks good but not sure how that affects the handling? Any help greatly appreciated!
