My carpet is totally trashed. Stained, holes, rips tears... I am thinking about buying some decent quality auto or marine grade bulk carpet somewhere and replacing the carpet & padding. Yes, I know there is a fair amount of detail work involved, cutting, forming, tucking, trimming, but even if the end result turns out fair or OK, it should be tons better than whats in the car right now... plus, it should make the car smell much better too. I dont want to pay an upholstery shop the mega $$$$

Afterwards, I want to make floor mats out of the same batch of carpet. Cut them to a custom fit & get the edges trimmed and serged...

Anyone ever replace the carpet? Thoughts?? Advice?? Thanks in advance!
