Belt Noise
2005 S40 41k. Picked a belt noise can figure out A/C or Alternator. Video would upload/ Only Happens when car is warmed up and doesn't matter if A/C is on. any advise to pinpoint the issue?
My experience is most belt noises are from the idler wheel/tensioner parts versus the components. You can see if the noise changes when you engage/disengage the AC, or when you put a load on the alternator (ie turn on lights/blower/rear defroster/seat heater etc). The next step would be to use a mechanics stethescope to see if you can listen to a specific pulley or area. Finally you would need to pull off the belt, inspect it and manually turn the idler wheels/tensioner wheel to see if something feels like its dragging or has play in it.
