My girlfriend drives a 2003 S40. There is an up arrow on her dash that continuously blinks. She says the car is extremely sluggish since the arrow started blinking. I'm not familiar with her car at all... Is there a button she may have pressed by accident that triggered it? She says it has happened before and she would hit the "W" button (which i assume stands for winter mode) and it would go away. Well this time it wont.

I read in another forum that it may be the PNP switch, but I want to make sure it's not something simple before I take it in. Again, I have NO knowledge of the car (been in it once) and neither does she... Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

 

The arrow flashing means codes in the tranny computer.
Try having the codes pulled and cleared and see how long it takes for them to come back.

 

are beeping sounds present as well?
