Customize a BOV? What do you mean?

1. What model s40 do you own?

2. What is your buget like?

3. You have two options to mount the BOV.

OPTION (1):[/b] Mount it to your Upper IC Pipe. This can be only done if your Upper IC Pipe is made from Aluminum as you will need an Aluminum adapter to weld onto the Aluinum Upper IC Pipe. Then you attach the BOV to the adapter (Flange) and run a vaccum line.

This is my BOV that is attached to my Upper IC Pipe on my 1999 s70 awd.

OPTION (2): You can get a T-Adapter and attach your BOV to your Upper Intercooler Hose. This is done by cutting your Upper Intercooler Hose in half and inserting the T-Adapter into the hose and putting a hose clamp on either side to keep it nice a tight and so it doesn't leak. Then you attach the BOV to the exposed end of the T-Adapter and then run your vaccum line.

These are your two options. On a side note you may want to block off your stock CBV which is like a BOV but it isn't. This can be done by buying a blanking plate from IPD, or a few people on Volvospeed sell them as well. I also think QuickBrickMotorSports sells them. Once this is blocked off you can run the vaccum line that was running to the CBV to the BOV. And you should be set. This doesn't have to be done but it is a good idea.

4. I recommend a HKS SSQV. The Turbo XS Type H-RFL is known to leak.

It shouldn't alter the sound of the exhaust at all. If your car is manual you will hear the BOV go off every time you shift gears. If your car is automatic you will only hear the BOV go off when you let off the gas, and depending on how fast your going and how much throttle you were on it will sound different each time you let off the gas.

It doesn't really alter anything in the car. A BOV is to let of excess boost pressure.

And the vaccum line you can T off from another vaccum line already on the car.

BOV is to prevent you turbo from burping. It really is just for the sound. If you are looking to mod you whip this is just an expensive toy. I would get it chipped myself.

Well you would T off a line from an existing vaccum line and run it to the BOV.

It looks like a HKS SSQV, but it isn't. Neither it is a replica.
SSQ is twin chamber, this is single chamber.

It is Simoni Racing BOV: http://www.simoniracing.com/us/index.php

And I can adjust the settings when the valve opens via screw on the valve... testing it today.

if you only want a BOV cause you want to hear that turbo spooling sound, you might as well not waster your money and just get an EST intake....our turbos have CBV's rather that BOV's and its really not a mod that will benefit you in anyway...

This is true, since we are not high power outputters it is just for looks and sound.

I have had both a BOV and the EST intake for my s70. I'd say go with EST intake as well. BOV is neat but not worth it.

Yea I only want one for the ppssshhhhhhhhhhhh sound. i was gonna get one off Ebay for cheap....... do you know what that little airfilter does on the left of his airbox??..... I already made a set up on my stock airbox so it gets nice cold air from the front of my car.....
Also do you know the diameter of the IC hose that connects to the radiator

You'll get that, ppssshhhhhhhhhhhh sound if you just add a open air filter (Cone filter) to your system.

Also don't buy cheap off EBAY. You get what you pay for and trust me if you pay cheap your going to get cheap.

I believe that is a breather filter and is required if you mod your intake from the OEM setup.
