Broken Hose
 

Our 2001 S40 can't turn over completely !

We have change the following:

spark plugs
coils and wires
fuel filter
air filter
maf sensor
fuel pressure regulator

and it still will not stay started

Question : I recently seen a broken cracked off black hoes about 3/4 inch in diameter coming from a outlet under the air idle valve and coming up to a pocket inlet above the radiator.

Would this cause the car not to start ?

Also can somebody tell me what this hose does and the proper name for it ?

I think the hose is the Idle Air Control Valve Hose now .
I still don't know the function of it and if would make the car not start or stall.

Yes, it will make the car not run correctly. My 2001 broke this same hose and I could only find an exact replacement at the dealer. It's simple and fast to change though.

Thanks , I've now changed the idle air control hose and air idle valve and the car is running good . Drove the ride most of the day now check engine light on but only for bank 1 oxygen sensor slow response . I guess that's next .....
