C.E.M.
I have a 2000 S40. The driver's side headlight stopped working and I reaplaced both headlights since the mounting brackets were broken on both. The driver's side headlight still won't come on. The mechanic told me the c.e.m. was bad and needed to be replaced. This part costs somewhere around $400. Does anyone know where I can find one for cheaper??? Please help.
Man. if you figure yours out PLEASE let me know. I've posted several times about the same prob and no one seems to know. I've also been told it's my CEM, but I don't think thats the prob. I've tried and tried to find a short or bad connection to no avail. About the time i decide f-it, it's just going to be out, we get a cold, low humidity day and the light comes on. Driving me absolutly crazy!!!
I'm not sure about your exact problem but I had the passenger side head light out (2000 S40). Checking the harness to the light resulted in no power. Since I need to drive at night a had to go to the dealer (ouch). It was the C.E.M (Central Electonic Module or something like that). Cost was $700 (ouchx2). Hope that helps. Good luck.
I was having the same problem for a long time. The light would jiggle and come back on. Eventually it stopped coming on altogether. It is the CEM. If your light comes on sometimes then the cem just hasn't gone out completely, but it will.
