Car won't start & i get this message Anti Skid Service Required
Hey everyone,
I have a 2008 s40 that i bought a few months ago in December.
This issue has happened twice.
The only connection I can make is it happens a few days after iv had an oil change.
It starts off with the car not starting in the afternoon when leaving from work. It will not even attempt to start or make any noise.
The first message reads "immobilizer please restart"
So i continue to try and start the car. No success.
Then the message will change by the third attempt to "anti skid service required"
I keep trying to start the car, and usually after 7-9 attempts it starts right up.
Like I said this has happened twice, and never in between.
Does anyone have an idea of what could be causing this?
Im very protective of my car and make sure it gets top service when as soon as possible. Im scared its going to ruin my car if I don't get the problem fixed.

I'll never buy another Volvo. I have a 2002 Volvo XC90 and have had problems with it for years. Practically everything has been replaced (including gearbox). Anti skid warning is up...again. Just had to order a new sunroof rubber seal to the price of £110. A locking nut was going to cost £50. I paid approx £500 for a new cd multi-changer from them...and then they wanted over £100 to install it!...Absolute joke. I agree that they have overheads and need to make a profit, but its been daylight robbery from the start.

Is it making any noise at all?
Fortunately, this has not happened to me since i posted this. However, when it was happening, i just kept trying to start it and by the 10th time or so it would start up.
I do not know how to explain the sound i heard, but it was a soft humming sound, almost like the sound a computer makes when its running.
I just had mine in the shop for an alignment and they did a full inspection and did not find anything wrong with my brakes or such.
Honestly the only issue with my Volvo is I am losing oil, they suspect sooner than i should so they replaced my engine filter and did a software update.
The software update HAS changed my cars alert system.
for example: if i do not put my seat belt on, it no longer beeps until i do, i dont know if this can have anything to do with it.

Have you checked the fuses? How about fuel pressure? You wrote that the starter sound is normal which means to me the engine is turning over but is not starting up? Have you checked the timing belt? Checked for compression? This is a regular double overhead cam engine with a single timing belt. All the normal tests for a car engine apply. It must have fuel and spark and proper timing.
