CEM Failed
Hi guysI am new to the forum and need some help.If someone else have had same problem I would appreciate for solutions.
So my 2010 S40 T5 AWD got CEM damaged by water of course and my local Volvo socialist offered me solution of either trying to fix my if it's not to much damaged or swap to new , actually used one.So we ended up with having to buy different.
That is where problem starts. He sent my CEM so it can be cloned to a well known company in Canada ,XEMODEX.After few days we got "new" CEM but car wouldn't start. He called XEMODEX and they said send it back to them followed by them saying CEM is burned. According to my mechanic there was nothing they can do and upon his request to send us back our original CEM they said they've scraped it and they have no original data saved.
That was really uncommon.
Again , according to my mechanic, who had long collaboration with them it was pretty strange for their unprofessional behavior.
Anyway I was able to locate and purchase another CEM with all the numbers aligned but the guy who has access to Volvo and has proper tools wasn't able to reprogram that CEM.
So my question is does anyone know person qualified and even more capable of reprogramming CEM.
Thanks in advance for your answers
P.S.Obviously avoid dealing with XEMODEX

As far as I know you can't use Volvo or VIDA to "reprogram" any USED control unit. You can use VIDA to "program" a NEW control unit.
That may be your only choice at this point - however someone needs to determine what "burned" your CEM that came from a very trustworthy choice (IMHO as I have used them for years for a couple of hundred control units with no problems)

Thank you for answers,I'll definitely try to find more info about it,even maybe directly contact XEMODEX and get their side of the story.
However, if XEMODEX does not have my original CEM data,I am basically screwed because now the only solution is to purchase brand new CEM from a Volvo dealer and get it programed which actually costs more than car actually worths.
I was hoping that there is a way to clean/delete CEM I have bought and then reprogram it with VIDA and data for my specific VIN.
Still,I have no clue what happened to original CEM.
Car was running pretty normal with occasional warning lights come on the dash.

XEMODEX does a scan and tests functionality before sending out modules. I find it strange that when it was put in the car, that it was "burned." Could it be that your mechanic did not disconnect the battery before installing the CEM?
I have also used XEMODEX and was very happy with their service.
Just curious, what service did you use our canadian friends for? Did they clone your unit to one you sent or did you purchase an upgraded xemodex unit to clone to?
