center console removal
I've spent the last two hours (don't tell my boss) searching this forum for threads on how to remove the center console of my 2001 S40. My cigarette lighter/12V receptacle doesn't work and I've already checked the fuse, which is fine. I did find one old thread that pertained to this exact problem, but the links to the pictures no longer work. Does anyone have any info that might help me with this?
I'm pretty good with mechanical type things and figured out how remove the cubby hole bottom and trim around the shifter to get to the front screws and removed the cupholder in the rear of the console and removed two small screws there, but something is holding me up and I can't quite seem to figure it out. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. It sure would be nice to charge my phone/run my GPS...

So it turns out that there's a really well camouflaged snap in cover in the bottom of the compartment under the center armrest. I couldn't see it all all with the shadows caused by the depth of the compartment. But it was visible with a flashlight and once removed provided access to the two remaining screws holding me up.

I didn't actually need to take the cupholder out, it just remains attached to the console. The sliding part of the cupholder does come out relatively easy though, I think there's a tab you depress and then it pulls right out, kind of like how an ashtray usually pulls out on most vehicles.
