Check engine & flashing arrow code reset
Good day to everyone. My first post about my first Volvo, an S40 which I am. In love with! I'm in Cbus, OH and we've got a lot of snow. I had issues getting up the snowy driveway tonight and the check engine light and the Winter driving up arrow (flashing) are now on. I saw something in another post that sounds just like my problem which mentioned checking & erasing the code. My S40 is running just fine, so I'm guessing I need to check codes and erase this one. Unfortunately I have no idea what is required to do this or what the process is about. I'm comfortable with mechanical and electrical repairs, so I'm hoping that someone will get me headed in the right direction on this issue. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks to all!

Thanks Tech. Is this scanner something I should invest in or is it cost prohibitive for a " hobbiest"? Where can they be purchased? How is it interfaced to the vehicle? Sorry if every question is like totally dumb! I really would like to learn how to care for my new baby and avoid unnecessary visits to the dealer. However, I certainly won't keep driving with these alerts showing. Again, advice is much appreciated.

You can try this one. Not 100% sure if it works with all the systems in the S40 or not.

Thanks again tech! That appears to be a very comprhensive product. Had any exposure to the Scanguage product? Not sure I'd be happy with a selfcontained unit like that, although it's certainly a small & easy to interface rig. Can't be as sophisticated as a software based product running on a laptop.
I really appreciate your assistance!

Thanks tech. I went nuts and purchased an Actron self contained unit from the local auto parts. Although I've been a motor head (hobbiest) for years and worked with technology, I've refused to invest in one of these ( it's an age thing I fear) What an idiot I've been! This thing is awesome! I really appreciate how helpful and responsive you have been. This is my first exposure to this great site & forum and I'm looking forward to regularly participating. Hopefully soon I'll pickup some knowledge that will help others too! Thanks again tech for makinge feel welcome!
