Default Check Engine Light

Hi all,

I just bought a 2001 S40 and had utter disaster happen. I kept it at my parents for 2 weeks while I drove my old car. Last Saturday, the very day I brought it home, an SUV sideswipped 4 cars on my street, one being my Volvo[:@]. We found it blocks away, she's claiming it was stolen, whatever whatever (keys in the car, she never reported it stolen to police, she was on the scene before we got there?!).

So now my check engine light goes on?! I've only driven it about 4 days now. It has 100,000 miles so I know alot of used cars tend to have these come on on occasion (my old car had it on for the last 2 or 3 years straight), and I just would like to know if these are the type of cars that tend to do this also.

The car runs great, the passenger side is pretty smashed (hoping her insurance covers it & not mine), doesn't seem to be a noticable performance issue, I'm wondering if this will be one of those cars that does this periodically.

Thanks &looking forward tomeeting you all on here.

Default RE: Check Engine Light

It might be a code for the O2 sensor.
But the best thing to do is have the codes pulled.
